Whew, these last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind! It’s funny, though, because some days pass in a blur and others in an eternity. Perhaps you know what I mean?
My family and I have been staying close to home, doing our part to flatten the curve, leaving only for necessities. Yet my soul yearns for a day of excitement and energy in the city. Typically, we head into Boston for a change of scenery, but that’s not much of an option right now.
Luckily, when times are tough, there are always bright spots in the dark.
First, my son graduated from Boot Camp! He’s officially a member of the United States Armed Forces. As a mom, I’m beyond proud, but I’ll also admit to moments of worry and sheer terror when I contemplate the responsibilities of the job he has chosen during his service. Due to COVID-19, we unable to join him for his celebration (a major bummer), but we were able to watch the live stream, and we couldn’t love him more or be prouder.
Next bright spot: The edits are back! This last week I hunkered down to go through the first round of edits for Aftermath Of Secrets. After excitedly reading and making necessary corrections, I’ve sent the manuscript off to my proofer for her to have a turn. We’re getting closer!
Never in a million years did I see a day when face masks would become an everyday accessory, but here we are. My mother-in-law was so kind to make us some really cute masks. She made six in all—and I’ve claimed my favorites. Aren’t they adorable?
It’s still cold up here in New Hampshire, but there have been a couple of evenings where we’ve been able to turn on the grill. I’m not a huge fan of chicken. It’s sort of bland and boring. But we found an online recipe for a rub. It’s super easy (comes together in five minutes) and is crazy delicious. I’m actually looking forward to chicken this week! I’m including a link to the recipe here if you’re looking for a little weekend or weeknight oomph.
And I’m adding this just to remind you that you’re awesome…
I hope the past couple of weeks have included a few bright spots for you too!
